My name is Julie Kubik. I was born between the Sea and the Mountains in British Columbia, Canada, surrounded by deep forest and lush, green farmland. Growing up, I lived and breathed horses. I spent a good portion of my youth riding and competing in horse shows across Western Canada. At seventeen I moved to Belgium with my family, where I finished high school and fell deeply in love with Europe(and the chocolate). Just 2 years later we moved back to Canada where I eventually met my husband after being “set-up” by a mutual friend. I can honestly say I met the love of my life in that moment. Four beautiful children and twelve years later, here we are.
Shearwater Weaving combines my passion for textiles, design and colour with my longtime love of babywearing. At first, I wanted to create special wraps for my sons and daughter to eventually carry their own babies. What I discovered however is that when I’m in my studio, I am genuinely at my best. Each strand of yarn that is used to create a wrap passes through my own fingers and I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world. I strive to create unique, heirloom quality baby wraps that can be enjoyed for many years to come.
I’m so happy you’ve stopped by and allowed me to share my story with you. If you’d like to connect further, please contact me on my Shearwater Weaving Facebook business page or at firstname.lastname@example.org
